CO2: understand, measure,
reduce

Corporate CO2 footprint
The company’s carbon footprint, based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol guidelines, measures the total amount of greenhouse gases caused by the company’s activities and opens up the possibility of understanding which are the major sources of emissions and, consequently, the areas where there is the greatest potential for improvement, savings and reduction. Making every employee aware of their contribution to the company’s reduction efforts becomes a powerful engagement tool that can motivate and unite people. Being able to communicate to customers and consumers where you are and what steps you are preparing for the future generates trust and credibility.
Product CO2 footprint
The product carbon footprint, based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol guidelines, measures the total amount of greenhouse gases caused directly and indirectly by a product during its life cycle. It reveals the climate profile of a product and provides a solid basis for designing and improving its performance in this area. But it doesn’t stop there: it is also a powerful tool for communication and stakeholder engagement along a path to improvement.
Climate strategies
Building a climate strategy means starting with the measurement needed to identify the main sources of emissions. The next step is to define priority fields of action and build a plan for each with targets, indicators, time horizons and responsibilities – at company or product level. This important reduction step is crucial and builds a solid basis for both the climate strategy and for mitigating the company’s exposure to risk factors. From year to year it is possible to check progress and understand where there is still room for manoeuvre. The last step is the creation of a compensation plan based on verified and certified projects. This is the way to the net-zero goal!
turntozero

The Climate Neutrality Alliance (now “turntozero”) is an initiative born in 2013 in Vorarlberg (Austria), which unites companies with a common goal: to become climate neutral. The proposed path starts with the measurement of the CO2 footprint and moves on from an awareness of the company’s status quo, then focuses on a plan to reduce the emissions produced. This, together with the plan for offsetting residual emissions, forms the company’s roadmap to neutrality. Another added value? Being able to share ideas, best practices and experiences with other companies that are on the same journey.

Offsetting Cooperation Partner „EoL“

For offsetting, we cooperate with Economy of Love (EoL), the standard of SEKEM’s Model for Agricultural Carbon Credits. EoL is a holistic sustainability standard initiated by the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA) to promote sustainable production and consumption. With the agricultural methods of biodynamics, the Economy of Love Standard is committed to actively increasing carbon sequestration through afforestation projects, compost production, soil carbon sequestration, and the implementation of renewable energy on EoL licensee farms. The EoL carbon credits are valuing the high environmental service of their farmers and provide an additional income through the sale of the Carbon Credits Certificates.
